Made here, for here. Why we keep it local

How a small core team and a network of local creatives keeps your ad, and your money, close to home.

When you spend money on an ad, where does that money actually end up? For a lot of businesses it goes to a big city agency, a crew driven in for the day or an app based overseas. Adbox has done it differently since 2009, and it's the reason we exist.

We're a small core team with a big network behind us. Aaron Petersen, our Managing Director and Creative Lead, has spent more than 30 years in regional advertising, and Elle runs our production. Every ad is made with a trusted network of experienced freelance creatives across Australia, from writers and editors to animators, voice artists and camera crews. When your ad needs filming, we use a crew near you rather than sending one up from the city. Whether you're in NSW, Queensland or WA, we come to you, and the money stays in your region.

That makes for better ads, too. Around 10 million people live in regional Australia (Boomtown), and they can spot an ad that wasn't made for them a mile off. Local creatives know the main street and the landmarks, and they know how to say the name of your town. The most powerful thing in a regional ad is usually a face people recognise, whether that's you, your staff or your regulars. We wrote more about that in our post on your local community.

It's also Australian made, which matters more than you might think. At least 80% of ads on commercial TV between 6am and midnight must be Australian made (ACMA). Every Adbox ad is made here, so you're covered, and you can say so with pride.

And it keeps the cost down. No flights, no city day rates and no overnight stays. That's a big part of how our Box Packages stay affordable, and how we can brief and deliver within 72hrs*.

There's a bigger picture too. Money spent locally goes around again. A local crew buys its lunch, fuel and coffee down the road, and the wages stay in town. Regional towns run on businesses backing each other, and your advertising can be part of that.

If you'd like your next ad to feel more local, start with yourself. Owners and staff often make the best talent, because people buy from people they know. Film at your own place, whether that's the shopfront, the workshop or the club rooms, as a real location beats a stock photo every time. A quick shot of the main street, the river or the showground tells everyone watching that you're one of them. Before you sign up with anyone, ask who's actually making your ad and where they're based. You could even team up with the business next door for a joint promotion and share the cost.

We started in Central NSW in 2009, and nearly 20 years later we're still keeping it local for regional businesses right across Australia and New Zealand. If you'd like an ad that looks like your town and keeps your money close to home, pick a package or give us a shout.
